Show moreEfficiency in parking facilities has been set to low standards since self-parking was introduced in the 1950s1. As technology has developed, parking has been left in the past. Drivers are increasingly realizing the problem as they become accustomed to other technology, which increases the efficiency of their lives (eg smartphones). While driving around searching for an open lot, circling a garage for an parking spot, or wandering through garage a looking for a parked car, people have time to ponder the many improvements that should be made to the parking experience. Simply Park: IPRO 365 is taking initiative to seize the possibilities new technologies offer the parking industry. The result should be improved driver experience as well as increased efficiency and profitability of parking facilities. The system will include signs visible to passersby that display the number of vacancies within a parking facility. Once in the parking facility, additional signs will direct drivers to sections of the facility with vacancies. Colored lights above each parking spot will indicate the state of occupancy for quick reference when looking down an aisle. When a driver parks, the ticket they receive at the entrance gate will associate their ticket to the spot they parked in, so when the driver returns to the facility he/she can present his/her ticket to a kiosk which will notify him/her how to get back to his/her car. As the vehicle leaves the ticket association will be reset and displays will update to show one more spot available. Show moreThe main problem the IPRO addressed was that of insider misuse. Contrary to popular belief, the largest threat facing companies on a technology level is not intrusion, but rather insider misuse. Insider misuse is a relatively new area of research in the field of Computer Science, which is one of the reasons it’s a relatively unheard of problem. In addition to that, due to intense media bias towards intrusion, people are blissfully unaware of the problem of insider misuse. Ethically, it’s an interesting problem. Companies already closely monitor user activity, but any infringement on perceived privacy in the workplace generally sends everyone flustering left and right. The IPRO had to personally evaluate if we felt the necessary invasion of privacy was worth the overall result which is a more secure and profitable business. Companies can decide which approach they would like to take, but it’s hard to believe that a company would choose one that wouldn’t help to prevent a loss of money.

Show moreThe main object of this research is to build up a comprehensive 3-phases transient stability simulator(TS3ph) and use it to analyze the transient stability with dynamic voltage control and protection. Detailed exciter models, SVC model and protection model are needed in this research. We have implemented detailed exciter model. We chose several exciter models which are frequently used in power system to built. These exciters can control generator terminal voltage by changing current and voltage to generator field winding. It is critical for improving the dynamic voltage performance in power system. We also built up detailed SVC model. The SVC is an important device for dynamic voltage control. It is a power electronics-based equipment containing both reactors and capacitor banks which have the capability of dynamic voltage and reactive power control. When doing the dynamic voltage control simulation, it is meaningful to have a detailed SVC model in the transient simulator. The another mission of this research is to study the protection of power system with unbalance fault or unbalance network using 3-Phase Transient Stability Simulator. In order to obtain the relay operation, we need to set up the interface between protection simulator Electrocon CAPE and transient simulator TS3ph. As unbalance fault sometimes can cause serious voltage problem during the transient, simulating the unbalance fault with realistic relay operation is important for transient stability analysis.

This means that when a warehouse receives an item (or items) information is generated about that item from its barcode that lets a warehouse worker know where the item should be stored in the warehouse. At the end of this project we should have a solution that is ready for verification of specifications by a Comarch deployers. Our software should meet several criteria:  Integrated into CDN XL which is Comarch ERP solution software.  Make use of its algorithm to improve the efficiency of a warehouse by directing the employees to where items should be stored in the warehouse.  Foolproof to minimize the effects of human error.  Capable of multinational use and will include a language pack for Polish and English.  Have a minimal learning curve in order to be an effective and marketable product. Some aspects of the software should be customizable after the prototype stage such as the format of barcode it will read, what type of mobile device it will run on and the appearance of the graphical user interface. The customization capabilities will not be implemented in this project since our software will be the initial release.

Show moreIPRO 332’s objective is to develop the groundwork for a tool, to be implemented either in Chicago Public School classrooms or community centers, which will deliver balanced, non-biased information to its constituents about energy issues that affect their daily lives. We seek to do this, firstly, by familiarizing ourselves with the most pressing energy issues, identifying knowledge deficits concerning these issues, and selecting areas around which our concentrated effort will be most productive. Second, we will be studying current teaching methodologies and technologies in order to ensure our tool is as effective as possible. And, finally, we will identify companies, agencies and organizations currently working to deliver energy information, and learn from their expertise and experience. Through this research, we hope to learn from those currently endeavoring to spread fact-based information about energy, while developing a program of our own that ascribes to the requirements of the Chicago Public Schools’ Curriculum guidelines.

Show moreAs the deadline for determining which city will host the 2016 Olympics draws near, Chicago, along with Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo is trying to prove that it should be selected as the Host City. If on October 2nd Chicago is chosen as the Host City for the 2016 Olympics, it will face the enormous task of providing temporary housing for all Olympics and Paralympics participants, including athletes, coaches, organizers and media reporters. Building upon the previous two semesters, our IPRO is proposing an economical and environmentally friendly solution to this challenge. We propose to utilize thousands of old shipping containers that are cluttering up shipping yards all over the Chicago-land area and convert them into a more cost effective alternative to traditional housing units. Since Chicago’s motto for the 2016 Olympics is “the Blue Green Olympics,” which references the way Chicago prides itself in creating sustainable I P R O 3 3 9 solutions, our proposal would only enhance our chances of being selected as the Host City in addition to being a city that thinks “outside of the box.”

Coal City is located just south of I-80 along the I- 55 corridor and less than an hour from Bolingbrook and Oakbrook. Along the northern border of Coal city, are adjoining lakes and abandoned coal mines. Small town atmosphere is conducive to community interaction and pride. The purpose of this project was to provide the framework for creating the most feasible and sustainable economic development model for the village of Coal City using generalized approaches that could be emulated in other small towns. the objectives that the team has set are: Gather information that will lead to the creation of an effective plan. Study models and components of Sustainable Economic Development focusing on small towns and rural areas. Study the demographics, human systems, existing industry systems, bio-physical systems, government and social policy systems and the existing industry clusters.
