Show moreThe objective of this group is to produce barcode scanning software for warehouse acceptance. This means that when a warehouse receives an item (or items) information is generated about that item from its barcode that lets a warehouse worker know where the item should be stored in the warehouse. At the end of this project we should have a solution that is ready for verification of specifications by a Comarch deployers. Our software should meet several criteria:  Integrated into CDN XL which is Comarch ERP solution software.  Make use of its algorithm to improve the efficiency of a warehouse by directing the employees to where items should be stored in the warehouse.  Foolproof to minimize the effects of human error.  Capable of multinational use and will include a language pack for Polish and English.  Have a minimal learning curve in order to be an effective and marketable product. Some aspects of the software should be customizable after the prototype stage such as the format of barcode it will read, what type of mobile device it will run on and the appearance of the graphical user interface. The customization capabilities will not be implemented in this project since our software will be the initial release.

Show moreThe direction IPro 307 “Intermodal Container Transport” is taking for the 2008 semester is geared toward alternative energy technologies as well as expansion of the capacity and efficiency of a designated rail transfer yard. The selected exploration site is the Norfolk Southern rail transfer yard at 47th street near the Dan Ryan Expressway. Since there is a large amount of on-site equipment (Mi-Jack side loaders, cranes, and yard hostlers), the possibility of introducing alternative fuel technologies exists and can provide a cleaner and more cost-effective solution to air pollution and rising fuel costs. The group will be focusing efforts on using wind power in parallel with compressed natural gas as an alternative fuel, as well as designing innovative ways to improve yard capacity and efficiency. The ultimate goal of this IPro is to develop a plan to increase yard efficiency and output, while at the same time incorporating green technology as an alternative energy source for the facility equipment.

Show moreIn the 21st century, medical technology is advancing at a rapid rate, thus allowing people to benefit from new treatments being developed. However, much of the underserved and underinsured public are not benefiting from the breakthroughs as one might expect. In order for the existing facilities to better serve the public, gradual transformations and upgrades must be made. This is the challenge being tackled by our IPRO: How can we realistically suggest a renovation model for existing Access Community Health Network facilities which would promote cost efficiency and technological advancement in both environmental and operational capacities? - The primary objective of this session of IPRO 340 is to deliver a five-year model for which existing Access Community Healthcare facilities can be shaped into more environmentally and operationally efficient centers for medical treatment. - In designing such a model, secondary goals include familiarization with cutting edge medical technology, modernized building flow, spatial relations, as well as the development of business process models. In addition, we plan to investigate ways in which Access Community Healthcare can enhance the level of patient experience by making peoples’ visit to their facilities more enjoyable and informative.

Show moreThe scope of I-Pro 335 is both a conclusion to unfinished work from the previous two semesters along with new projects that will start and end this semester. Work to be concluded and closed-out from last semester:  Final LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) documentation and identification of individuals that might be part of a LEED team should the school desire to pursue that route.  Final design of Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) elements including a re-design of the elevator, and approval by the client.  Using the Code of Ethics written last semester as a base line, the code will be rewritten to strengthen its objective to provide guidance for the I-Pro. New projects to begin and completed this semester are:  The roof re-design- Green roof options. This may also include storm water retention and grey water recycling systems, as well as any updates to the buildings primary plumbing systems.  Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) - Lab hoods, air conditioning load calculations and Hydronic Heating.  Electrical systems design- Illumination calculations and design, Alarm systems, and ‘Off-heating’ load calculations from equipment to be housed in Alumni Memorial Hall (A.M.H.).  Construction schedule.  Cost estimate.

Davis, is a retired elementary teacher with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction/Early Childhood Education. Her passion for educating young people led her to develop a series of books that would be both educational and enjoyable. She is also a frequent visitor to schools, conducting "Meet the Author Day", where she speaks to both students and teachers about realizing their dreams. Angela's mission is to provide young children with books and toys that will enhance their learning and broaden their thinking. To that end, she has developed a concept for a line of learning doll called Tummi Pals. Angela has researched the market and has not found a doll with the attributes of Tummi Pal. Show moreThe goal of IPRO 320 is to create an online professional network for school teachers at the kindergarten through twelfth grade level to allow for the sharing of ideas, lesson plans and other professionally relevant information. This is a continuing project which saw limited success in the previous semester in that a functioning web site was constructed based on surveys of public school teachers but it saw very little use. This semester, the planned approach is to build on the research generated last semester by performing additional market research with teachers. Following that, IPRO 320 will rework much of the previous web site by refining some of the features, adding additional ones as the research indicates and improving the website in general, both functionally and aesthetically.
