Show moreIPRO 332’s objective is to develop the groundwork for a tool, to be implemented either in Chicago Public School classrooms or community centers, which will deliver balanced, non-biased information to its constituents about energy issues that affect their daily lives. We seek to do this, firstly, by familiarizing ourselves with the most pressing energy issues, identifying knowledge deficits concerning these issues, and selecting areas around which our concentrated effort will be most productive. Second, we will be studying current teaching methodologies and technologies in order to ensure our tool is as effective as possible. And, finally, we will identify companies, agencies and organizations currently working to deliver energy information, and learn from their expertise and experience. Through this research, we hope to learn from those currently endeavoring to spread fact-based information about energy, while developing a program of our own that ascribes to the requirements of the Chicago Public Schools’ Curriculum guidelines.

There is a great need for establishing and sustaining educational opportunities. Our IPRO focuses on the population of South America, and more specifically Colombia. Our goal is to provide them with educational information to support their existing Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) Technician training program at Centro don Bosco in Bogotá. We will continue the work of previous IPROs by creating modules that concentrate on O&P solutions to pathologies that occur on different areas of the body, specifically upper limb, spine, and lower limb. This semester we will also test the effectiveness of our educational modules by using the modules exclusively to fabricate an actual orthotic device. Our modules will also be translated to Spanish for the audience in Colombia.

Along with the global and financial concerns that go along with oil as a fuel source, there has been growing interest in electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are the competitive issue that IPRO 313 has researched, investigated, and is working to resolve. Currently, most electric vehicles run on lithium batteries. The problems associated with these vehicles are the recharge time and service station compatibilities. The most popular electric vehicle is the Testla Roadster, which has a driving distance of approximately 270 miles per full charge. Although this is an adequate driving distance, it takes six to eight hours for a full charge. This amount of charge time is a vital drawback for electric vehicles. Show moreThe first objective of IPRO 341 is to develop a hypothetical model of the life cycle of emerging technologies through historical analysis. The team has chosen four technologies the study of which we believe will allow us to construct a working model of the life cycle of an emerging technology. The second objective of IPRO 341 is to begin an in-depth look into emerging technologies and assess its political, social, and economic impacts. By applying our hypothetical model to the current trends of emerging technologies, we will predict the impacts that the introduction of emerging technologies will have on society as a whole. The third objective of IPRO 341 is to reassess our model after completing other research dealing with emerging technologies. Since the model we develop can only be a theoretical model, we will have to continuously revise our model depending on any new information that comes about during the development of emerging technologies. The fourth objective of IPRO 341 is to provide an overview as to the importance of researching emerging technologies; how they affect society and the importance to all stakeholders involved.

The project team will suggest what type of programming and how to market the station to the students and surrounding communities. The research on programming has been completed and requires an operations plan. One project will address how to attract students to fill on the air positions. The marketing section last semester developed a package for underwriters that would enable the station to attract underwriters. Other projects concern increased coverage, and purchase of new equipment The project will be managed as an educational station by developing more viable radio station activities to offer students real experience in putting a five phase goal oriented project together to increase awareness and listenernship of the station. Another project will be to have the radio station offer mentorship opportunities for local high school students interested in radio. The strategic plan will serve the university and the surrounding area.

Envision yourself carrying around sensitive data (e.g., passwords, account numbers) on a flash drive that: 1. is secure from unauthorized access, and 2. will not attack another machine on installation (e.g., with a virus). A flash drive is initialized to contain user data as well as an application that allows these data to be manipulated in a consistent way by various entities. Depending on the entity, different data are visible and changeable.
