Show moreThe purpose of this IPRO is to develop a template for a website to host a user-friendly online database of green technologies information for the Electrical Contractors’ Association of the City of Chicago. This website will involve providing data on green electrical products with cut sheets, pricing and distributor information, return on investment projections, and LEED certification facts. The use of this website should help create a well informed transition from industry standard electrical products, to green alternative products, as well as cut down on miscommunication between architects and electrical contractors.

Show moreThe purpose of the IPRO this semester was to further develop the prototype of a cardiovascular display for the prenatal to newborn blood flow system for the Museum of Science and Industry. The museum’s main goal was to have a display that would emphasize the changes in pressure within the body before, during, and after birth. To accomplish this, the group decided the goal of the semester was to recreate a visual presentation, which could 5 ultimately be on a touch screen monitor, and bench-top model as the display. In addition to the creation of the prototype, it was then brought to the museum for testing.

Show moreFor this semester IPRO 353’s purpose is to generate a steady public interest in the Fabrication Laboratory (Fab Lab) that is located in the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) by reaching out to a target user base of retirees, inventors, craft hobbyist, and students. Feedback collected from these user groups will be used to create and establish a feasible program that sets out requirements for qualified users, provides new users with tutorials (or workshop), and implements a schedule for steady use of the Fab Lab by qualified users. The program will include a volunteer force such as a group of community service students trained in the lab that can oversea activities in the Fab Lab.

Show moreAt this point, most of the requirements from the client have been obtained (in table below). Based off of this, we have selected the Joomla Client Management System to develop the web-site. The decision was made between Joomla, Mambo, and PHP-Nuke. All three are CMS systems with varying capabilities and weaknesses. The description for each of the CMS systems is provided below. What is left is to continue getting feedback from the client as well as continuing to adapt and modify Joomla as needed to fit our needs.

In developing this business plan, we are looking at the marketing strategy, market size, finances, and competition for this product. We are also looking at the government regulations governing this type of technology, at the business risks in developing the VSB and how to market it. The last objective for this IPRO is to develop a set of objectives and a path forward for any future IPROs on this topic.

There are a number of approaches that will be taken to design and complete the website, from a technical point of view, which include beta testing and finalizing the code and functional sections. The problem that this IPRO faces this semester is to take the website that currently exists, determine its bugs, and make final adjustments for a client release.

Show moreThe overall conflict that IPRO 313 is trying to resolve is the dependency on oil as a fuel source for automotive vehicles. Along with the global and financial concerns that go along with oil as a fuel source, there has been growing interest in electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are the competitive issue that IPRO 313 has researched, investigated, and is working to resolve. Currently, most electric vehicles run on lithium batteries. The problems associated with these vehicles are the recharge time and service station compatibilities. The most popular electric vehicle is the Testla Roadster, which has a driving distance of approximately 270 miles per full charge. Although this is an adequate driving distance, it takes six to eight hours for a full charge. This amount of charge time is a vital drawback for electric vehicles. The vast majority of service stations are not electric vehicle friendly. Gas stations do not and have not set up areas for electric battery pack replacement, or vehicle charge. Withou

Show moreIIT’s core vision is built around the principle that no matter how good we get, we can always improve. As the University seeks to assert itself as a member of the top tier of academic institutions in the U.S., there are many ideas for improvement up for implementation. Among these ideas is the goal to make IIT the most sustainable, urban university campus in the United States. IPRO 326 (“A Greener IIT”) is based upon the idea that in order to accomplish this, we must improve the sustainability of IIT’s main campus landscape.

Aside from the obvious monetary damages a significant number of people have died as a result of these types of accidents. The purpose of this EnPRO is to aid workers when they are in danger of striking an underground utility by successfully developing a software product that displays subterranean utilities to the workers. Show moreeyeCan seeks to develop and prototype assistive devices that will enable the visually impaired to exercise independently. Initially, our efforts have been devoted to developing a device that will allow such individuals to swim independently which from a sighted person‟s perspective might not be perceived as an issue. From research we have found this not to be the case, for the visually impaired it‟s very difficult to swim without causing harm to themselves. With our product eyeSwim, we hope to improve the quality of life for visually impaired individuals by providing them with opportunity to exercise safely. Currently, eyeCan is in the process of researching other activities i.e. running, biking, climbing which may prove to be another opportunity for expanding the business‟ focus.

Show moreThe plan for this IPRO is to develop a design for a large scale parking garage that can accommodate about 500 cars and will be located on IIT’s main campus. The objective of this project is to develop a design that is applicable to today’s lifestyles, yet goes beyond the standard parking systems currently used. Features including quick handling of incoming and outgoing cars, efficiency in storage, and aesthetics are all considered in design. Basically, the aim is to develop an innovative and economical concept for parking a car.
