Show moreThe invention disclosed is a process to allocate channels in a sectorized cellular network. A system of allocating cellular frequencies (channels) to the sectors among the cells within a tile is disclosed which maximizes channel set usage within the tile while avoiding co-channel interference between cells. According to the present system, no infrastructure rebuild is required. The disclosed approach further supports all currently used cellular technology. By alternating and rotating the channel assignments across sectors, what is a seemingly locally poor algorithm utilizing additional local channels is actually a globally good algorithm which is efficient in terms of the total number of channels used owing to short reuse distance and low number of cell types.

Show moreTransient stability topics have been popular in modern power systems and time domain simulation provides an efficient evaluation for correlative studies. So far, we have been working on developing advanced time-domain simulator TS3ph, which implements simulation on electromechanical level but with three-phase completed network model to enable unbalanced modeling and simulation. In this paper, modeling and development work of TS3ph are being introduced. Positive-sequence equivalent and three-phase based models, including static var compensator, governor and three-phase induction motor models, are built and validated to evaluate their dynamic behaviors in transient state. Moreover, research work on single phase induction motor model development, including important motor behaviors such as motor stalling, is also introduced in this paper for voltage collapse and recovery study. This is indeed the first time to apply such model on electromechanical simulator as well.

Show moreAt this point, most of the requirements from the client have been obtained (in table below). Based off of this, we have selected the Joomla Client Management System to develop the web-site. The decision was made between Joomla, Mambo, and PHP-Nuke. All three are CMS systems with varying capabilities and weaknesses. The description for each of the CMS systems is provided below. What is left is to continue getting feedback from the client as well as continuing to adapt and modify Joomla as needed to fit our needs.

Show moreUsing the sample of Au + Au collisions at 200 GeV generated by the AMPT with string melting model, the anisotropic amplitudes of azimuthal distributions of total transverse momentum, mean radial (transverse) momentum, and multiplicity are first presented and compared. It shows that the azimuthal distribution of mean radial momentum well characterizes the radial expansion. So a measurement of the azimuthal distribution of mean transverse (radial) rapidity of final state particles is suggested. We further show that the isotropic part of the suggested distribution is the combination of isotropic radial expansion and thermal motion. The anisotropic amplitude characterizes the anisotropic radial flow, and coincides with the parameter of anisotropic radial flow rapidity extracted from a generalized blast-wave parametrization.

Show moreThe disclosure describes a technique for uniform heating of relatively large blocks of hydrocarbonaceous formations in situ using radio frequency (RF) electrical energy that is substantially confined to the volume to be heated and effects of dielectric heating of the formations. An important aspect of the disclosure relates to the fact that certain hydrocarbonaceous earth formations, for example raw unheated oil shale, exhibit dielectric absorption characteristics in the radio frequency range. In accordance with the system of the invention, a plurality of conductors are inserted in the formations and bound a particular volume of the formations. The phrase "bounding a particular volume" is intended to mean that the volume is enclosed on at least two sides thereof. Electrical excitation is provided for establishing alternating electric fields in the volume. The frequency of the excitation is selected as a function of the dimensions of the volume so as to establish a substantially non-radiating electric field which is substantially confined in the volume. In this manner, volumetric dielectric heating of the formations will occur to effect approximately uniform controlled heating of the volume

Show moreThe purpose of our team is to save lives and prevent accidents involving construction equipment damaging underground utilities. We seek to do this by introducing the Enhanced Vision System, or EVS. The goal then for this semester is to design and build this system for displaying the location of buried utilities to the operators of construction vehicles. This includes producing a proof-of-concept prototype as well as designing the final product that we would produce. As this project is not merely an IPRO, but also an EnPRO, we are also considering how to turn this idea into a successful business venture. To this end, we will be preforming research and creating a business plan.

While there are many companies that focus on aggregating such data into common stream - complexity of interpreting such data in a meaningful actionable way remains a challenge for many companies including NAVTEQ.” [Appendix B] Identify new content from real time feeds which include 1. Points of Interest and their attribution (e.g. Hours of Operation, Languages Spoken at locale, etc…) 2. Any associated content (e.g. events, relationships to other Points of Interest (e.g. same owner, etc…) Create visualizations based on this content - some basic examples could include 1. Hot/Not So Hot real estate areas (new construction, sales) based on agent and broker social media updates 2. High/Low crime areas based on social media stream 3. Hot/Not city zones based on number of people tweeting/updating Facebook/checking in/etc… in certain areas, parties, POIs.
