Show moreA process is provided wherein hemoglobin, a fragile material, is formulated into high hemoglobin content water-in-oil-in-water multiple emulsion while maintaining high yields and high oxygen exchange activity. A multiple emulsion of aqueous oxygen carrying material in oil in outer aqueous phase is suitable for provision of oxygen for oxygen transfer processes. A hemoglobin multiple emulsion in physiologically compatible oil in an outer aqueous saline solution is provided in sufficiently small droplet size to provide oxygen flow through blood vessels to desired body tissues or organs thereby providing a blood substitute.

Show moreA method and apparatus for electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) for fabricating a thin-layer yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) electrolyte on a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anode substrate constructed of nickel-YSZ cermet. By reducing the thickness of the electrolyte, and thereby reducing the cell internal IR drop, an intermediate temperature SOFC (ITSOFC) can operate at 600-800.degree. C. A collar positioned at a distance from a discharge end of a spray nozzle enhances a spray pattern of a precursor including the electrolyte material and thus provides a very thin electrolyte layer.

These group homes are located in the community where inmates serve a period of time after being released from federal prison, in order to prepare for reentering the community. The inmates are required to go outside during the day to work or participate in community services. Law offenders are housed in penal establishments as a punishment not for punishment. Preservation of personality & prevention of deterioration call for as high a priority as efforts to bring about the inmates’ re-entry into the society. Hence the concept of correction, reformation & rehabilitation of prison inmates should come to the forefront of any community correction center’s adminstration.

The downward movement of the cartridge into the operative position serves to retract the tape guides clear of the operating tape path. A tape tension arm is provided along the tape path in the cartridge and is so arranged as to apply tension to the tape as the cartridge is unloaded from the transducing machine. The tape reel in the cartridge is suspended on a bearing ball so as to provide very low resistance to rotation.
