To do that, we are using a site in Evanston as the basis for a design that minimizes energy consumption while still being an attractive marketable solution to current home buyers within the city. Ideally we will design a model community which will challenge conventions within the fields of design, planning, engineering, and everyday living and also serve as an example to Chicago-area municipalities about the benefits of affordable sustainable planning and design.
