Also, it causes the lost of many long tradition. The losing of multi- generational living is just one of them. This project is a humanistic response to the social problems.

Show moreWater shortages will be a global problem by the year 2025. With the Great Lakes Basin accounting for 95% of the fresh water in the United States it will soon become our most valuable natural resource. In re-defining urban relationships to the Great Lakes a healthy, ecologically stable, and regenerative water system can become our greatest national asset. Providing a prototype solution for one of these urban areas (Traverse City, MI) may set a precedent for long term protection of the Great Lakes.

Show moreWhat if the school were more like a playground; a laboratory for exploration and discovery? What if the place itself actually inspired the students within it? My proposal for a new primary school in Chicago attempts to become such a place. With an emphasis on wellness and ecologically based practices the school becomes a teaching tool. Featuring a diverse range of flexible interior and exterior spaces, the building supports different learning environments. The school also encourages community involvement through shared resources and volunteer opportunities. The project becomes more than a school; an integral part of the neighborhood and place to experience learning.

Show moreThis project was done as a response to the thriving public performance community at the northern side of Grant park in Chicago, IL. As a former resident of the South Loop a rift was readily perceived between the North and South ends of the park in both venues for entertainment as well as general amenities. This project looked to fill a void on the south end of the park to create both a more welcoming outdoor space for the public but also to create a performance venue that could help bring business and pedestrian traffic to the southern end of the loop.

These two structures are linked together through the RED TWIST element which guides the interested eye from the entrance at the south side, all the way to the North side. The twist serves as a floor for the first building and then chances and becomes the roof of the second building. In the end through all this elements implemented on the site, the project hopes to be a success for bringing people together into a pleasant environment, to an interesting / interactive building that allows visitors to be explored .

The Calumet region was once the largest and richest wetland in lower north America, but 120 years of intensive industrialization, pollution and waste disposal tailored the ecosystem of this region and resulted in thousands of acres of brownfields.

Show moreThe Exchange Project proposes the physical framework to enable a transformation of existing industrial related infrastructure, a different way to understand the city and the way we live in it at the pedestrian level. The project primarily is a connective element to unite surrounding communities as well as the conversion of an unused building. Physically, the proposition of the connective element manifests itself as an eco-boulevard, looking at a new interaction between surrounding community and a mostly absent natural environment. This begins by rethinking surface and its uses including green spaces, parks, farming, gardening, playgrounds and open space primarily used for industry.

Show moreThe purpose of this overlay is to provide the proper mechanics which allows a new type of home ownership while addressing current urban vacancy. The overlay attempts to be democratic. It establishes basic rules based on the existing block requirements, while also providing flexibility within. Residents voluntarily participate in the system, benefiting from the whole. Social interactions, block orientated activities, and housing arrangements expand and contract over time.
