Show moreLibrary Reserves over all consists of 2000 plus books, the library group study suite consists of 4 study rooms and conference room, each room contains wall monitor, white board with markers and eraser and table and chairs. The exploration space contains 2 3d printers, 2 3d pens, 2 button makers (1 inch and 2.25 inch). In this presentation we discuss the creation and functioning of Reserves, Group Study Suite and Exploration space at the Galvin Library. We show by data and graphs the usage and impact of three services at the library. Show less

Started as a group study space with tv monitors and white boards in each study room but has added an exploration space with 3d printers, 3d pens, button makers. The group study space consists of 4 group study rooms and a conference room. Exploration space consisting of two, 3d printers, 2 button makers, general space for impromptu meeting, quick lunch and study space equipped with free wifi, wall monitors accessible via vga and hdmi connectors and power. Show moreThis presentation discusses rights issues faced by archives when building digital collections. Copyright, at times, is given a low priority during digitization project planning. Yet. determining copyright status, articulating rights statements, and providing access while protecting rights holders can be complicated, time-consuming tasks. Investigating rights is especially daunting for archives, given their great amount of unpublished materials and orphan works. As a result, there is a strong temptation to “blanket” digital collections with restrictive access and use statements. This presentation suggests methods for identifying copyright status, determining suitability for web distribution, and choosing appropriate rights statements using sample items from UASC's Institute of Design Records, 1937-1955, Show less

Libraries have long participated in cooperative collection development as a strategic way of spending funds and sharing resources. Using established best practices for collaborative collection development as a foundation, this session will describe updated strategies for initiating and assessing simple but effective cooperative collection development projects that increase the number of unique titles that can be shared among libraries with minimal commitment. The strategies are applicable to any library setting.
