Show moreLow cost imaging radar systems are an emerging field today with very useful applications in automotive, healthcare and entertainment industries. The aim is to realize an effective and reliable radar system that has a good resolution and at the same time a low cost and complexity. The S-MFCW radar technique has been shown to achieve comparable resolution with the FMCW technique while at the same time maintaining the advantages of reduced hardware complexity and low power consumption. This makes the S-MFCW technique very useful in low cost and low complexity user end devices. The aim of this thesis is to develop a S-MFCW radar system that is capable of measuring distance of an object as well as its velocity. The radar system was implemented using two different approaches – a modular approach and an integrated approach.
