Show moreThe goal of this IPRO project is to continue the development of a web site begun with a Spring 2000 IPRO team for General Motors Electro-Motive Division, a world-class supplier of medium-speed diesel engines for locomotive, power generation, marine propulsion, and land/offshore drilling applications in more than seventy-five countries. The purpose of this project is to enhance the corporate web site to support users with different security levels (public pages, customer restricted pages, company restricted pages) and to support pages that have information specific to each customer as user. The following tasks are to be addressed as part of this project: (1) define the technical requirements necessary to support a multi-level user access site and a configurable "my page" site; (2) define the structure and process required to manage and update online documentation to accommodate information specific to the end user; (3) define the structure and process required to issue and manage user IDs; (4) design a web page that can be customized by the end user based on the information the end user is interested in; and (5) provide a functional website framework that incorporates the objectives listed above. At the conclusion of the project the team will provide (a) a technical requirements document, (b) a process flow chart for managing user-specific updates and user IDs, and (c) a functional web site framework that supports several layers of information protection.
