Cohen was a 1924 graduate of the Lewis Institute, and former professor of English at Lewis and, later, Illinois Institute of Technology. From attached caption: "Although they put in a stiff 8-hour day in the field, all is not work for the two coeds attending the summer surveying course at the northern Wisconsin camp operated each summer by Illinois Institute of Technology. Here, Shirley Schultz, 19, right, and Madge Rosenbaum, 18, left, are urged to go for a dip in cool Upper Trout Lake, 400 miles north of Chicago, where Illinois Tech each summer maintains a lodge and cabins for its civil engineering students who are required to take a field course in surveying. Miss Schultz, a junior at Illinois Tech, and Miss Rosenbaum, a sophomore at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, are the first coeds in 40 years to attend the camp which closes September 3. Their swimming partners are, left, Kirkby Strickland, sophomore, 1754 East 79th street, and, right, Guido J. Norini, senior, 1887 North Winnebago street, both of Chicago. Miss Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schultz, lives at 3447 North Oak Park Avenue, and Miss Rosembaum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rosembaum, 5461 Everett avenue." Photographer unknown.
