Crown Hall, with Sugiyama and Doblin outside, on the other side of one of the building's glass panes. The chair consists of a single sheet of aluminum, rolled into a ribbon shape and bound to an aluminum base. The chair was designed in response to a call from the Alcoa company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, asking for ID students to design chairs out of a single sheet of aluminum.
