Show moreThis community center was designed to make connections between the different generations to create a truly united community, not just a neighborhood. Each generation has something that they can bring to others, but this rarely happens because each generation normally congregates together, which isolates themselves from the others. The community center provides opportunities to create these connections. These opportunities will be through Music, Fitness, Art and Education.

Show moreMONUMENTAL ADAPTATION: REIMAGINING THE OLD CHICAGO POST OFFICE Built in 1932, the Old Chicago Main Post Office was the largest post office in the world at three million square feet. It was designed to accommodate the extension of Congress Parkway and in 1953 the Eisenhower Expressway cut a void through the center of the building. Finally the Post Office was vacated in 1997 and remains unused to this day. This project proposes the adaptation of the Post Office into a hybrid fieldhouse that contains public recreation and retail space. This proposal keeps the Post Office public, utilizing income generated through retail to maintain the building for Chicagoans. Recreation program is inserted into voids carved out of the original building. Retail occupies the peripheral space, surrounding the voids.

Show moreNorth Carolina State University is one of the leading land grant institutions and public research universities in the country. However, its rapidly growing size and required travel distance in-between campuses necessitate drastically improved transit connections. Current plans are in place for the construction of a rapid transit corridor through campus along with commuter and light rail transit. The Master’s Project will focus on the main multimodal center for this transportation network, the North Carolina State University Rapid Transit Center.

Show moreThis Project is an urban renewal of an abandoned post-industrial land in the calumet region located on Chicago’s far southeast. The Calumet region was once the largest and richest wetland in lower north America, but 120 years of intensive industrialization, pollution and waste disposal tailored the ecosystem of this region and resulted in thousands of acres of brownfields.

Show moreThe school is a proposal for high-level academic performance in the form of an art condenser that will also be used after hours to house community art events. Thus, it will act as a catalyst for future college students and serve as a magnet for neighborhood residents. As the art disciplines require, the classroom and their respective studio are integrated and considered as the basic unit that define different volumes for each art form. The massing, orientation, and materiality bring a unique quality of light to those “volumes of light”.

Change. summarizes the intervention and the effect of this architectural project. The developed project wants to activate and change this deteriorate site into a place where people can came together and be aware of the new discoveries for green technologies and also can beneficiate of the outdoor space that incorporate lots of activities year-round. A bike and a pedestrian path are proposed to link two existent streets from the opposite neighborhoods and also to activate the site. The building, composed of two structures, is anchored along the path to reinforce it and also to create a reference point to everything ales on the site. The two proposed buildings represent a Research Center for Green Technologies with a training center and an Exhibit / Community space. These two structures are linked together through the RED TWIST element which guides the interested eye from the entrance at the south side, all the way to the North side. The twist serves as a floor for the first building and then chances and becomes the roof of the second building. In the end through all this elements implemented on the site, the project hopes to be a success for bringing people together into a pleasant environment, to an interesting / interactive building that allows visitors to be explored .

Show moreI am proposing to create a student housing hub for the various architectural colleges within the city of Chicago (IIT, UIC, SAIC & Colombia College). I am imagining not only making a physical connection but also creating a digital environment where students can collaborate, network and share ideas at their leisure. The phrase “living-learning environment”, comes to mind when thinking of my project, with so many advancements in technology, within architecture and within the public domain our learning has extended beyond the classroom. Although these schools were chosen primarily for their architectural distinction, the hub will welcome students across all disciplines.
