Show moreThe innovative institute blends the professionalism of the city with the teachings of a studio-based architecture school in the neighborhood of Bronzeville. Thus, this helps the students become exposed to the real world practice, attaining professional principles and experience in the field. The new institute becomes an incubator for learning and producing great architecture. It combines individuals at various stages of their professional and educational careers. Graduate students, graduates, and working architects share space and together create a unique learning environment Show less

Show moreWhat if the school were more like a playground; a laboratory for exploration and discovery? What if the place itself actually inspired the students within it? My proposal for a new primary school in Chicago attempts to become such a place. With an emphasis on wellness and ecologically based practices the school becomes a teaching tool. Featuring a diverse range of flexible interior and exterior spaces, the building supports different learning environments. The school also encourages community involvement through shared resources and volunteer opportunities. The project becomes more than a school; an integral part of the neighborhood and place to experience learning. Show less

Show moreThis is a design for a new research station in Antarctica that also includes Antarctica's first hotel as part of the station. The emphasis is on a modular design that is easily expandable and reconfigurable in order to meet the needs of future Antarctic research and tourism demands. The end result of the project is a single 16 minute animation to demonstrate life at the station both as a daily routine and a seasonal routine, as well as the logistics of shipping and constructing the station in Antarctica. Show moreRecent litigation related to offshore oil drilling has threatened North Carolina’s beautiful shoreline and biodiversity. Furthermore, the Outer Banks have seen a drop in tourism over the past few seasons. With a research and education center, regional alternatives to environmentally costly drilling can be developed, while culturally providing a destination that celebrates and elucidates the fragility and splendor of the OBX. Show moreManhattan’s expansion is limited by its context; for decades its growth has been upward and inward. It fills the remaining gaps and leftover spaces in its own fabric. As time presses on, this layered context grows in density, accumulating a thickness around the alley, the fire escape, and the rooftop. By resisting the city’s tendency to stifle, one can gather these moments of Manhattan’s past, and channel the interplay of space and narrative. Show less

Show moreThis project was done as a response to the thriving public performance community at the northern side of Grant park in Chicago, IL. As a former resident of the South Loop a rift was readily perceived between the North and South ends of the park in both venues for entertainment as well as general amenities. This project looked to fill a void on the south end of the park to create both a more welcoming outdoor space for the public but also to create a performance venue that could help bring business and pedestrian traffic to the southern end of the loop. Show moreThis community center was designed to make connections between the different generations to create a truly united community, not just a neighborhood. Each generation has something that they can bring to others, but this rarely happens because each generation normally congregates together, which isolates themselves from the others. The community center provides opportunities to create these connections. These opportunities will be through Music, Fitness, Art and Education. Show less
