Crown Hall, Illinois Institute of Technology. The Ribbon Chair consists of a single sheet of aluminum, rolled into a ribbon shape and bound to an aluminum base. The chair was designed in response to a call from the Alcoa company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, asking for ID students to design chairs out of a single sheet of aluminum.
