In terms of production mechanisms, potter’s depend on conventional kilns which are shared between families. They use cotton dust, rags /wastes and diesel & oil soaked cotton as firing fuel which is serious cause of population & health hazards. Show less

Show moreThe aim of this thesis is to revitalize suburban subdivisions not by destroying existing typology but by using the typical cookie cutter homes as a basis for re-envisioning subdivisions. By creating key room components, existing homes can expand outward to provide additional rooms for current family members, for older generations moving back home and/or for additional rental spaces as a way to supplement income. The end result creates unique spaces and courtyards that places the resident much closer to nature. Show less

Show moreInspired by a need for personal space in a fast paced, highly mobile world, the nomad project combines the mobility and strength of a pickup truck with the convenience of a small living space. By combining a work space, kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom, this project allows this compact space to allow for the comforts of a home to be available wherever a person can travel. This exploration of the duality of interior space experiments with the folding of program space from a collapsible set of planes to a space which can be used in daily life. Show less

The emphasis is on a modular design that is easily expandable and reconfigurable in order to meet the needs of future Antarctic research and tourism demands. The end result of the project is a single 16 minute animation to demonstrate life at the station both as a daily routine and a seasonal routine, as well as the logistics of shipping and constructing the station in Antarctica. Show moreMONUMENTAL ADAPTATION: REIMAGINING THE OLD CHICAGO POST OFFICE Built in 1932, the Old Chicago Main Post Office was the largest post office in the world at three million square feet. It was designed to accommodate the extension of Congress Parkway and in 1953 the Eisenhower Expressway cut a void through the center of the building. Finally the Post Office was vacated in 1997 and remains unused to this day. This project proposes the adaptation of the Post Office into a hybrid fieldhouse that contains public recreation and retail space. This proposal keeps the Post Office public, utilizing income generated through retail to maintain the building for Chicagoans. Recreation program is inserted into voids carved out of the original building. Retail occupies the peripheral space, surrounding the voids. Show less

Show moreC-ward is the neighborhood (in Mumbai) that was designed and developed around 1940 and thereafter there has been no or very little improvement in infrastructure, which has led to narrow street, unsafe pedestrian and limited open space. C-ward in one of the most prime real-estate location considering it right next to financial district , close to major train station and close to Shoreline. ROMF (Remaking of Mumbai Federation) has taken the initiative to develop the C-ward and the project site part of ROMF development area. City centers have always been source of density because of scarcity of land. The sensible and effective use of such land would be to build vertical (high-rise) and also to have the possibility of expansion for the future development. A mixed use high rise development diversifies the use of space within a single building structure. Combination of living, entertainment, shopping and lodging in single urban structure, helps to utilize the full potential of an urban site. Sponsorship: Durbrow, John Show less
