Show moreThe school is a proposal for high-level academic performance in the form of an art condenser that will also be used after hours to house community art events. Thus, it will act as a catalyst for future college students and serve as a magnet for neighborhood residents. As the art disciplines require, the classroom and their respective studio are integrated and considered as the basic unit that define different volumes for each art form. The massing, orientation, and materiality bring a unique quality of light to those “volumes of light”.

Show moreRecent litigation related to offshore oil drilling has threatened North Carolina’s beautiful shoreline and biodiversity. Furthermore, the Outer Banks have seen a drop in tourism over the past few seasons. With a research and education center, regional alternatives to environmentally costly drilling can be developed, while culturally providing a destination that celebrates and elucidates the fragility and splendor of the OBX.

Show more"The Memory Step" is a public library combined with a community center. The project is located in an urban area that has lost much of its character over time. Time has several important meanings that include tradition, history and discovery of unique characteristics - in other words, culture. Culture provides a city with a unique identity and as software, it provides city with diversity. Placing the project within this specific area will act as a catalyst to revitalize the cultural and social identity and regenerate the unique urban fabric. The project is based upon three principles : Identity, relationship, and Community.

Show moreNorth Carolina State University is one of the leading land grant institutions and public research universities in the country. However, its rapidly growing size and required travel distance in-between campuses necessitate drastically improved transit connections. Current plans are in place for the construction of a rapid transit corridor through campus along with commuter and light rail transit. Show moreThe aim of this thesis is to revitalize suburban subdivisions not by destroying existing typology but by using the typical cookie cutter homes as a basis for re-envisioning subdivisions. By creating key room components, existing homes can expand outward to provide additional rooms for current family members, for older generations moving back home and/or for additional rental spaces as a way to supplement income. The end result creates unique spaces and courtyards that places the resident much closer to nature.

Show moreInspired by a need for personal space in a fast paced, highly mobile world, the nomad project combines the mobility and strength of a pickup truck with the convenience of a small living space. By combining a work space, kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom, this project allows this compact space to allow for the comforts of a home to be available wherever a person can travel. This exploration of the duality of interior space experiments with the folding of program space from a collapsible set of planes to a space which can be used in daily life.

Show moreThis community center was designed to make connections between the different generations to create a truly united community, not just a neighborhood. Each generation has something that they can bring to others, but this rarely happens because each generation normally congregates together, which isolates themselves from the others. The community center provides opportunities to create these connections. These opportunities will be through Music, Fitness, Art and Education.
