Show moreWater shortages will be a global problem by the year 2025. With the Great Lakes Basin accounting for 95% of the fresh water in the United States it will soon become our most valuable natural resource. In re-defining urban relationships to the Great Lakes a healthy, ecologically stable, and regenerative water system can become our greatest national asset. Providing a prototype solution for one of these urban areas (Traverse City, MI) may set a precedent for long term protection of the Great Lakes. Show less

Show moreBy refashioning the design and programmatic use of an offshore oil rig into a luxury hotel for ecotourists, a new age of responsible travel may emerge. By twisting the symbol of oil dependency into an ecologically preserved, environmentally accountable and revenue-producing prototype, the ideals of reuse, energy and environment can be viewed through a new lens. This design creates interesting and innovative living spaces and environments aided by sustainable integrations to create a “living machine” that establishes connections between all building systems as well as inhabitant inputs and outputs resulting in an energy independent habitat. Show moreWithin the slums of India small and unventilated dwellings serve as multipurpose spaces where a families live as well as manufactures pottery products. In terms of production mechanisms, potter’s depend on conventional kilns which are shared between families. They use cotton dust, rags /wastes and diesel & oil soaked cotton as firing fuel which is serious cause of population & health hazards. Show less

Show moreA prefabricated home with componentry optimized for simple fabrication and human-scale labor. This project explores the benefits of linking digital design and prefabrication to maximize construction efficiency and minimize on-site delays. Its physically remote location also necessitates a highly light and mobile solution that is simple in construction. Show less

Show moreDemolishing a concrete building that is structurally sound is ecologically wasteful and irresponsible. With the many advantages concrete offers and rising energy costs, there needs to be a way that existing and structurally sound, concrete buildings can be reused. This explored method for concrete reuse depends heavily on technological advances in the foreseeable future that allow for the process to be accomplished efficiently and for the material to be preserved for a longer period of time. Show moreThe aim of this thesis is to revitalize suburban subdivisions not by destroying existing typology but by using the typical cookie cutter homes as a basis for re-envisioning subdivisions. By creating key room components, existing homes can expand outward to provide additional rooms for current family members, for older generations moving back home and/or for additional rental spaces as a way to supplement income. The end result creates unique spaces and courtyards that places the resident much closer to nature. Show less

Show moreInspired by a need for personal space in a fast paced, highly mobile world, the nomad project combines the mobility and strength of a pickup truck with the convenience of a small living space. By combining a work space, kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom, this project allows this compact space to allow for the comforts of a home to be available wherever a person can travel. This exploration of the duality of interior space experiments with the folding of program space from a collapsible set of planes to a space which can be used in daily life. Show less

Show moreThis project was done as a response to the thriving public performance community at the northern side of Grant park in Chicago, IL. As a former resident of the South Loop a rift was readily perceived between the North and South ends of the park in both venues for entertainment as well as general amenities. This project looked to fill a void on the south end of the park to create both a more welcoming outdoor space for the public but also to create a performance venue that could help bring business and pedestrian traffic to the southern end of the loop.
