Show moreC-ward is the neighborhood (in Mumbai) that was designed and developed around 1940 and thereafter there has been no or very little improvement in infrastructure, which has led to narrow street, unsafe pedestrian and limited open space. C-ward in one of the most prime real-estate location considering it right next to financial district , close to major train station and close to Shoreline. ROMF (Remaking of Mumbai Federation) has taken the initiative to develop the C-ward and the project site part of ROMF development area. City centers have always been source of density because of scarcity of land. The sensible and effective use of such land would be to build vertical (high-rise) and also to have the possibility of expansion for the future development. A mixed use high rise development diversifies the use of space within a single building structure. The common element shared among the two schools is the public realm. Rather than shunning the public, the public is encouraged to actively engage in activities within the building. In this way the common spaces throughout the building take on the role of serving the needs and desires of both schools and the public, resulting in the necessity for dialogue and cooperation. Their various responses make city dynamic and finally characterize the face of a city or a town. Buildings are one of dynamic factors in a city. The building facade which determines building’s identity marks the transition between outside and inside. The facade has a strong relationship between building programs and urban activities. Their looks make a huge effect on urban environment. But buildings’ configuration is fixed once design choices are made. Buildings are conceived as a rigid objects and inflexible, unresponsive, and unsustainable. Considering that buildings are the largest contributor to the city environment, building should be responsive to changes and facade performance should be more active to building programs. Adaptive building facade will be the means that can address these challenges. Show less
