Show moreIPRO 349 2.1 is focused on creating a prototype of a map reporting component that will be used as an addition to the ComArch Report Book software. The Report Book is a bundle of software used for data analysis that is not built in Excel. ComArch Report Books are used to analyze transactional data, as well as profit control data. For example, it interprets data collected from transactions at stores through the register data gathered during the day, but can also help companies analyze why profit margins are different in different regions

Show moreForced periodic operation of tubular reactors can increase conversion and yield if proper operating conditions and forcing policies are selected. A numerical approach is proposed for computing the effects of periodic input forcing by a shooting algorithm. Such computational tools permit the assessment of the benefits of forced periodic operation of a specific reactor system and the identification of the ranges of operating conditions where forced periodic operation is beneficial. This information provides valuable insight for planning detailed experimental studies. Determining the influential input variables and bracketing the ranges of the operating conditions for improving reactor performance will reduce significantly the experiments needed for selecting the most favorable reactor operation policies. The application of the numerical algorithm is illustrated by assessing the benefits of forced periodic operation to a CO oxidation reactor model. The results reveal substantial improvement in performance with slow cycling in feed concentration.

Show moreThe goal of this project is to design software to support the secure use of portable memory as a medium for transferring secure data. Envision yourself carrying around sensitive data (e.g., passwords, account numbers) on a flash drive that: 1. is secure from unauthorized access, and 2. will not attack another machine on installation (e.g., with a virus). A flash drive is initialized to contain user data as well as an application that allows these data to be manipulated in a consistent way by various entities. Depending on the entity, different data are visible and changeable.

Show more Evaluate and incorporate previous presentation feedback into new methods of addressing the scientific aspect of global warming. This primarily includes subdividing the issue into four major aspects that contribute to this effect. Present material to a larger and more diverse audiences, including schools, community centers, libraries, non-profit organizations, and other possibilities. Focus on solid, scientific data from credible sources that define why and how global warming is occurring, rather than discussing the politics and economics that surround the issue. Show moreThe problem posed at Queen of Peace High School is one of sustainability. The IPRO 314 team will focus on the reuse and greening of existing school facilities and grounds. Three major spaces currently hold latent potential at the school: the abandoned convent/dormitory, library and inner courtyards, used correctly they can become a catalyst for positive change. It is proposed that the dormitory be torn down, in its place a “community center” would be constructed. The space will service extracurricular activities at the school, public outreach programs (i.e. youth groups, cub/girl scouts, etc.), club rooms and a new space for library books storage and usage. The second space being addressed is the library, given its current isolated position the space would be transformed into a communication and media center equipped with the technology necessary for worldwide communication. The third space addressed is the inner courtyards of the building. With six dispersed throughout the school grounds, they can become an active part of the recreational aspect of the school’s environment: places of social interaction, outdoor classrooms, etc. Additionally, the greening techniques proposed for the school’s facilities will include methods for efficiency improvement, education and school promotion.

Show moreThe invention disclosed is a process to allocate channels in a sectorized cellular network. A system of allocating cellular frequencies (channels) to the sectors among the cells within a tile is disclosed which maximizes channel set usage within the tile while avoiding co-channel interference between cells. According to the present system, no infrastructure rebuild is required. The disclosed approach further supports all currently used cellular technology. By alternating and rotating the channel assignments across sectors, what is a seemingly locally poor algorithm utilizing additional local channels is actually a globally good algorithm which is efficient in terms of the total number of channels used owing to short reuse distance and low number of cell types.

Show moreFor years, the IPRO Program at IIT has been forced to operate wherever space can be found. Often, facilities are not equipped for the needs of the program. It has become necessary to find a way to give the IPRO Program its own dedicated space. If we give the program its own space, then what is needed in that space? What needs to be done with it? What types of spaces are necessary? What technologies will be used? IPRO 301 exists to answer these questions. We will provide ideas to IIT that can solve these problems. ii

Show moreThis is the first semester of EnPro 350. Although the title suggests wood reclamation via arts and crafts, we have decided to expand the focus to reclamation via urban wood and lumber. We would like to start a business that addresses a need in the market for convenient removal of dead or infested trees in an urban setting. This encompasses all trees not located in forests or tree groves, and includes those found in urban setting. Often, the expense to remove one’s trees from his property is a time-intensive, confusing, and expensive process. We have decided to provide the service of tree health assessment, removal, processing, lumber certification, and marketing through utilizing the concept of vertical integration. Mission Statement: "To Satisfy Our Customers by Providing High Quality Wood from Urban Forests while Creating a Positive Change in the Environment"
