Show moreThis project aimed to create efficient housing for the average American with the ability to customize their home to their own needs, lifestyle, and aesthetics. In addition, the feasibility of pre-fabricated portions of the home made this more realistic in terms of cost and the quickness of its construct-ability for each potential home owner. Show less

Show moreI am proposing to create a student housing hub for the various architectural colleges within the city of Chicago (IIT, UIC, SAIC & Colombia College). I am imagining not only making a physical connection but also creating a digital environment where students can collaborate, network and share ideas at their leisure. The phrase “living-learning environment”, comes to mind when thinking of my project, with so many advancements in technology, within architecture and within the public domain our learning has extended beyond the classroom. Although these schools were chosen primarily for their architectural distinction, the hub will welcome students across all disciplines. Show less

Show moreAs Twitter becomes a more common means for officials to communicate with their constituents, it becomes more important that we understand how officials use these communication tools. Using data from 380 members of Congress’ Twitter activity during the winter of 2012, we find that officials frequently use Twitter to advertise their political positions and to provide information but rarely to request political action from their constituents or to recognize the good work of others. We highlight a number of differences in communication frequency between men and women, Senators and Representatives, Republicans and Democrats. We provide groundwork for future research examining the behavior of public officials online and testing the predictive power of officials’ social media behavior. Show less

Show moreNorth Carolina State University is one of the leading land grant institutions and public research universities in the country. However, its rapidly growing size and required travel distance in-between campuses necessitate drastically improved transit connections. Current plans are in place for the construction of a rapid transit corridor through campus along with commuter and light rail transit. The Master’s Project will focus on the main multimodal center for this transportation network, the North Carolina State University Rapid Transit Center. Show less

Show moreInspired by a need for personal space in a fast paced, highly mobile world, the nomad project combines the mobility and strength of a pickup truck with the convenience of a small living space. By combining a work space, kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom, this project allows this compact space to allow for the comforts of a home to be available wherever a person can travel. This exploration of the duality of interior space experiments with the folding of program space from a collapsible set of planes to a space which can be used in daily life. Show less

Show moreThis project is a contemporary revisit of the ideas behind Frank Lloyd Wright's Usonian houses. The building consists of three separate dwelling units on the same lot, a variation from the typical Chicago three-flat in that, rather than the three units being stacked one on top of the other, they are ordered linearly one after the other. The primary advantage of this arrangement is that each unit is allowed access to the ground floor, and to one of the three designated courtyard areas. Show less
