- Resource Consumption Awareness in the Home (semester?), IPRO 334
- People are inadequately informed about their energy consumption behaviors in the home. Providing real time feedback at the point of decision making will enhance consumer awareness of energy consumption, and potentially lead to behavior modification. The IPRO 334 team will design and evaluate means of improving energy consumption awareness in the home. Team 334 will determine what metrics are most valuable to consumers and the best means to communicate that feedback., Deliverables for IPRO 334: Resource Consumption Awareness in the Home for the Spring 2007 semester

- Compact Inductor with Stacked Via Magnetic Cores for Integrated Circuits
- An on-chip inductor device for Integrated Circuits utilizes coils on a plurality of metal layers of the IC with electrical connectors between the coils and a magnetic core for the inductor of stacked vias running between the coils. The magnetic core is made from a series of stacked vias which are deposited between each metal layer of the IC having a coil. The magnetic core desirably includes an array of magnetic bars comprising the magnetic core. The via material of the magnetic core may be both magnetic and electrically conductive. The magnetic and electrically conductive via material may also be used for the planar coil electrical connectors or other electrically conductive parts of the IC, or both, thereby lessening fabrication steps. Films of magnetic material may be formed at the ends of the inductor to provide a closed magnetic circuit for the inductor. A high Q factor inductor of small (e.g., transistor) size is thus obtained. The materials and processes which enable the on-chip inductor device are compatible with ordinary IC fabrication methods., Sponsorship: Illinois Institute of Technology, United States Patent

- Using Assessment Data to Improve Library Services : presented at ILA 2007 conference
- IIT Libraries conducted LibQUAL+ service quality assessment in 2004 and 2006. This presentation will outline strategies we undertook to address issues identified in the 2004 assessment, and evaluate their success based on assessment results in 2006. We will also discuss the importance of measuring academic library effectiveness in higher education’s emerging outcomes-based culture.

- Power Assist Kayak (semester?), IPRO 353
- Adapt-A-Yak is a small company that one will operate out of the owner’s garage. The company is not meant to be a job where one works 40+ hours per week. It will remain a very small company as it is more of a hobby based business. Adapt-A-Yak will be the first company to produce and sell universal power-assist products for sit-on-top kayaks., Deliverables for IPRO 353: Power Assist Kayak for the spring 2006 semester

- Planning the 21st Century Urban Farm: From High Rise to Neighborhood (sequence unknown), IPRO 336 - Deliverables
- The purpose of this IPRO is to establish a strong foundation for the future of urban agriculture. The growing problems regarding the traditional methods of agriculture, and the rate of growth of the world population, the team plans to design a method to grow food more efficiently and economically in urban areas. The team is looking at large, industrial warehouse-type buildings that have outlived their primary use, and creating a plan that utilizes these buildings to grow enough food for the surrounding communities., Sponsorship: John Edel of Bubbly Dynamics, LLC, Deliverables for IPRO 336: Planning the 21st Century Urban Farm: From High Rise to Neighborhood for the fall 2009 semester

- Large Scale Structure Design (Semester Unknown) IPRO 315
- The plan for this IPRO is to develop a design for a large scale parking garage that can accommodate about 500 cars. The objective of this project is to develop a design that goes beyond the standard parking systems used today. Rather, the attempt is to have a design which is more representative of “parking garages of future.” And as such, such features as quick handling of incoming and outgoing cars, efficiency in storage and aesthetics are considered in design. The building will be completely self-sufficient and will have to incorporate the architecture of the various buildings on campus. The design could have separate entrance and exit ramp towers, ramps incorporated with parking, or the futuristic design may be automated. An automated system will include a vehicle elevator of lift system to move the vehicle so the driver does not have to. The structure could be built with reinforced concrete or steel. The design will also include accessibility following the requirements set forth in the Americans with Disabilities Act., Deliverables

- Make a Connection: Library Services for International Students
- This presentation for the 2012 I-Share Instruction Team’s Forum: Library Instruction for Diverse Student Populations at the Catholic Theological Union Conference Center focuses on ways to adapt library services, orientations, and online and in-person instruction to meet international students' informational needs., This is an updated version of the presentation of Make a connection: Library services for International Students at the 2011 Illinois Library Association (ILA) annual conference.

- Development Plan For The Michael Reese Site (Semester Unknown) IPRO 359
- Our team purpose is to develop a project on the site of the old Michael Reese Hospital that develops the community, brings in revenue, attracts development and revitalizes the surrounding areas. Our mission is to design something that attracts people and businesses through unique and innovative opportunities, as well as to establish a community where people can grow and develop leadership., Deliverables

- 2B Developed EnPRO 351
- It is our objective to create a medium in which to combine the need of proficient web developers for university projects/ jobs as well as others looking for similar services outside of the university, with IIT students looking to gain experience as well as payment, whether through class credits or through wages. We plan to create a business model of a consulting firm that seeks out clients, as well as having clients brought to the firm, realize their needs, create a design document of their proposed website, then seek out the students with the capabilities matching the clients needs and “hire” them for the job, all the while maintaining that the quality of the student’s work will be sufficient to the client and therefore sufficient for our consulting firm. The start up companies/clients we gain will receive knowledge, expertise, and fresh ideas for a much needed website for their company/project. On the other hand the students will receive real-life experience working for a client in a certain timetable, with a standardized set of guidelines while also receiving some form of compensation., Deliverables

- NUMERICAL SINGULARITY ANALYSIS
- A numerical scheme is presented for classifying the different static bifurcation behaviors exhibited by a nonlinear system in its remaining parameter space. This numerical technique differs from previously published schemes in that the application of singularity theory is done numerically and requires no explicit differentiations of the system in question. It also does not require the reduction of the mathematical model to a scalar equation. The utility of this multivariable scheme will be demonstrated through an application to a seven PDE tubular packed-bed reactor model., Endnote format citation

- Diffraction Enhanced Imaging Method Using a Line X-Ray Source
- A method for detecting an enhanced image of an object by independently analyzing, detecting, digitizing, and combining images acquired on a high and a low angle side of a rocking curve of a crystal analyzer. An x-ray beam generated by a line x-ray source is collimated by a crystal monochromator including two non-matching crystals to form an x-ray area beam. The x-ray area beam is transmitted through an object to be imaged and onto an image detector and the image is digitized. The digitized images are simultaneously solved, preferably on a pixel-by-pixel basis, to derive an enhanced image which has dramatically improved contrast and spatial resolution over an image acquired through conventional radiology methods., Sponsorship: Illinois Institute of Technology, United States Patent

- Design of a Large Scale Structure (Semester Unknown) IPRO 315
- Located in Oakbrook, IL the architects and engineers of IPRO 315 will design a 22 story hotel. Together architects and engineers will modify and re analyze a structure created by pervious designers, and select any new materials for construction. In creating the hotel students will be responsible for the structural analysis of columns, beams, foundation, steel, and concrete design required to insure all serviceability requirements. The students will be required to follow the 2006 International Building Code, and secure the safety of all possible occupants. Management, leadership, ethics, and teamwork will be an integral part of building a large scale structure as students learn to work together on a “real life” project., Deliverables
