The team will investigate the range of feasible materials and mechanical design alternatives, as well as their economic viability. Selected concepts will be tested through a carefully designed testing program so that the performance of alternatives can be compared with confidence. The results of this project will provide important information to Daimler-Chrysler that can be used for follow-up design work; and can lead to other projects that explore new concepts for automobile components and systems. This project continues the work of a Fall 2000 IPRO team.
