By Sid Doppelt A new interfraternity sports manager has been appointedl Re— cently the IF council named Bob Dunn, of Alpha Sigma Phi. ‘50 succeed Sherman Roberts as (1L rectm of fraternity athletics. Dunn has been a member of many of the top teams from the Alpha Sig house in the past few seasons. This background and his noticeable enthusiasm for the position are indicative of big things to come in IF sports. In describing the coming athletic program, Dunn point- ed out that both baseball and ping—pong will be run on a two league system. Each league will engage in a round-robin schedule and then the top two teams in each will meet in a playoff eerico. The to ' be divided up accor their order of finish the previ- ous season for each particular sport. Bowling will be held on two Sunday afternoons with three games being bowled by each team on both dates. The winner will be determined by the total number of pins scored. The exact schedule dates for the three sports reads as follows: Baseball will begin on April 23 and will continue each succeeding Sunday until the regu- lar scheduled games are com- pleted. This can be accomplished on three rain—free days. Ping-pong will be held the evenings of March 27, 29 and April 3, 10 and 12 at the various fraternity houses. Bowling will take placeon April 2 and 16. The IF council took still“ another step in the right di- rection when they accepted the invitation for our cage champs to compete in the Bradley Tournament. With both Theta Xi and Alpha Sigma Phi still tied for first, no clearvcut lead- er was available. The two teams got together on the mat- ter and it was decided that Theta Xi would represent Illinois Tech’s fraternities at Bradley tomorrow. Joan Lupton has; proven herself quite a tumbler by spending most of the time in class on her head while the other girls were having trou- ble staying on their feet. The cute and vivacious instruc- trees, while a little more demand~ ing, is much liked by the girle and respected for her own athletic ability. She is a graduate of Chi~ cage Teachers College and a vet— eran tutor, having worked in many' schools in and around Chicago.
