Examination date for the technical writing scholarship sponm sored by industry and Power magazine has been set back two weeks to May 13, C. E. Deakins, Dean of Students, announced this week. The $1,000 scholarship test was originally scheduled for tomorrow. A faculty review committee con- sisting of Dr. L. E. Grinter, re- search professor of civil engineer'- ing and mechanics; Dr. P. R. Trum- pler, professor of mechanical engiu neering; and Dr. M. Williams, asso— ciate professor of English will take advantage of the postponement to screen applicants for the award. Candidates must be junior engi- neering" students with “B” aver— ages. In additions to these quali- fications, the applicant's record will be scrutinized by the faculty com- mittee before he is allowed to take the exam. Applications for the scholarship are being taken in the office of the dean of engineering, 201MC. The examination will consist of an impromptu writing exercise on subject material and data supplied by “Industry and Power” magazine. Winner of the scholarship will he an— nounced by June 15. Under terms of the scholarship ar- rangement, the faculty commit- tee is not hound to select a winner if it does not feel the efforts of those taking the exam satisfactory, chairman Grinter commented. Summer employment at the pub— lisher’s headquarters in St. Joseph, Michigan, will be offered to the winner.
