M ITSA CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I~NAME This organization shall be lmown as the Illinois Tech Student asso- elation ARTICLE Il—OBJECT The object of the ITSA shall be to administer, through its elected officers, the distribution of the monies in the Student Activites fund, and to develop unified Illi- nois Institute of Technology spirit by l. Organizing and systematlzing all inter-class relations, all class customs and privileges; 2. Conducting all class tions; 3. Serving as a means of com- munication between the student body and the faculty; 4. Investigating and rendering opinions upon any matter brought to the organization or upon any matter which may be initiated by the organization itself; 5. Passing and enforcing such acts as it may deem advisable for the government and regulation of the student body; 6. Acting as a Court of Appeal from all sections of classes, mem- bers of committees in carrying on class activities, organizations, athletics, or any student; 7. Having full privilege of in‘ vestlgating the management of any student activity; 8. Fostering mass meetings at appropriate intervals; 9. Promoting intramural and in. ter~fraternity contests; 10. Stimulating interest in ath- letic contests; ll. Assisting the athletic depart ment in arranging schedules. re ceiving and caring for visiting teams, ole; 12. Providing cheers and cheer leaders; l3. ARTICLE III—MEMBERSiliP Upon payment of the Student no tivity Fee, any registered day- school student of Illinois Institute of Technology shall automatically become a member of ITSA, such membership to extend until the next scholastic registration clay. ARTICLE IVMGOVERNMENT election i. The government oi" the l'I‘SA shall consist of a mans aging board known as the ITSA Board of Control. Section 2. The I’I‘SA Board of Control shall consist of fifteen members; nine representing Arm- our college, three representing Lewis institute, and three repre senting Illinois Institute of Tech- nology. Section 3. The representation from Armour college shall consist of a president, a first vice—pres} dent, a vice—president, a secretary, one representative each from the sophomore and freshman classes, and “A" and ”B" Co-op groups, the dean of Armour college, and one member of the Armour college faculty. Election 42. The representation from Lewis institute shall consist of a vice-president, a student rep- resentative, and the clean of Lewis institute. Section 5. The representation from Illinois Institute of Tech- nology shall consist of the presi- dent of the Institute, the treasurer of the Institute, and the director of physical education ARTICLE V~~OFFICERS Section l. The officers of this organization shall be nominated in primary elections (to be held si- multaneously on Lewis and Arm— v our campii) in which any student in good standing and having a scholastic average of at least 1.00 may have the privilege of submits ting his name on the ballot. The candidates nominated in the pri- mary election for the respective offices, shall be those two students receiving the most votes in the election. In cases of close ballot- ing (three per cent of the votes cast) three or four candidates may be nominated. Election 2. The student officers from Armour college shall be elected by a poll of the entire stu- dent body of Armour College: of Engineering from the candidates elected in the primary election. Election 3. The student oilicers from Lewis institute shall be elect- ed ii; a poll of the entire student body of Lewis institute of Arts and Sciences from the candidates elected in the primary election. Election 4. The election of stu- dent officers shall be conducted by an election committee composed of the student members of the ITS-A board. Election 5. The faculty member from Amaour college shall be chosen by the Armour student members of the Board at the first meeting of the school year. election 8. Duties of the officers of the Board of Control: It shall be the duty of the student presi- dent to call and preside over all meetings of the Board and to per- form such duties as pertain to the office of president. it shall be the duty of the first vice—president of this organization to assume charge of all committee work of the organization and to perform any other necessary du- ties that shall fall to the first vice- president. It shall be the duty of the vice president from Armour to repre- sent his class on the Boa-rd and to act as an assistant to the score“ tary and to perform any other necessary duties that fall to the vice-president. It shall be the duty of the vice- president from Lewis to represent the student body of Lewis insti~ tute on the Board, to act as an assistant to the first vice-presi~ dent, and to perform any other necessary duties that fall to the vice~presldent It shall be the duty of the sec— retary of this organization to rep« resent his class on the Board and to take minutes of all meetings of the Board and of the association and to keep them in bound books, and to care for any other records and documents concerning this or‘ ganization. ARTICLE lib—THE BUDGET Section .‘l. The ITSA Board of Control shall prepare a budget to show proposed distribution of the Student Activity Fees for the en suing academic year. This budget shall be completed and printed in the official student newspaper before the thirtieth day of the first semester. This budget shall be prepared as follows: (1} The ITSA Board shall set aside an amount which it deems sufficient for the conduction of student activities which are com" mon to both campii. These activi- ties include varsity nthletics, in- tramural athletics, publications, and others which draw their mem» bership from the entire student body. {2) The remaining amount shall he held to meet unlorseen conA tingencics which may develop during the school year. Section 2. Any balance left re- maining at the. end of the school year alter all bills have been paid, shall be placed in a fund to be use-cl at the discretion of the Board for any purpose contribut- ing to the general welfare of the student holly. Election ii. A statement as to the Student Activity Fees shall be printed in the official student newspaper as soon as all bills are paid for the school year con- corned. A li’l‘lCLlfi VI IWAMENDMENTS The constitution may be amended at any time by a two-thirds major» ity of the student vote cast, said amendment to be submitted by the l’l‘Si’l Board to a vote of the student body. BYLAWS ARTICLE I~— SPECIAL ELECTIONS In case an officer resigns or is unable to continue his duties, a successor shall be elected by the Board oi' Control. ARTICLE IIw INTRAMURAL ACTIVITIES Section il. Intramural contests comprising inter-class athletic con- tests. and the like, shall be under the direction of an intramural manager. Section 2. The intramural man- ager shall be appointed by the president of the ITSA. Section 3. The intramural man» ager must arrange intramural schedules, furnish any necessary referees. umpires, or judges, draw up any necessary rules, and make any other necessary arrange- ments. Section 4. For his work, the in tramurai manager shall receive a major manager’s award. Section 5. All awards: for intra- mural contests shall be approved by the Board. ARTICLE III Section i. ARTICLE Vim PROTESTS OR APPEALS Section 1. ARTICLE VII— APPPOINTMENTS Appointments made by the presi- dent of this organization shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Control.
