The win was the fifth of the year for lilinois Tech. Tech took the lead early in the first half, scoring eight points in the first five minutes. However, the Bluejay’s star, Ham, took matters into his own hands and at half time lllinms Tech had been held to a 16-14 lead. ‘ Romic Gives Inspiration Receiving inspiration from Coach Remie Meyer, the Techmen went into the second frame with sizling energy and the Techawlc lead was increased with the help of Howie Pcndlebury and Jack Byrne. The final tabulation showed IIT with a total of forty- five points and Elmhurst thirty- three counters. Pentllclmry Stars Howie Pendlebury took scoring honors for Tech’s scarlet and gray five. Seventeen points were marked up for the Tech forward during the course of the evening. Among them were seven, let- termen returning from last year’s Techawk nine. This was one of the finest turnouts in recent years, and should give Sonny Weissman a swell choice of material in his first season as baseball coach at ll’l‘. Team Needs Managers Coach Sonny Weissman is send- ing out a call for two assistant managers, one of whom must be a Sophomore, and the other must he a Junior. One of these men will become manager of the team next season. A spring training program has been outlined, by Coach Weiss- man, for the Techawk nine, and at present the Techmen will prac- tice in the gym daily from 12 to 1, and from 5 to 6 on Monday and Wednesday. Tech in Conference Illinois Tech is now a member of the Northern Illinois College conference and the conference schedule includes two games each with Wheaton College, North Control College, Elmhurst, and Concordia of River Forest. Be- sides the light conference games, non‘conference contests will be played with Lake Forest, Chicago Teachers, U. of 0., Lawrence Tech, Michigan State, Dehalb, and. This year the “Armour Tech Relays” will be sponsored by the Illinois Institute of Technology and hereafter will be known under their new name. The usual excellent location is the University of Chicago fieldhouse. Last week the invitations for the meet were sent to over 50 schools over the whole country. So far no answers have been re» celved but they will start to come in later this week. The prelim- inary announcements were sent out in December and the an- nouncements that era sent out last week were to follow ups of this preliminary. This is the min year that the Relays have been sponsored by Armour and as usual it will be a gala occasion of the sports world at IIT. The committee in charge this year will be George 8. Allison, Norman R Root, John J. Schem— mer, and Alexander Schrelher. Dr. Monllau, of the Highland camp for boys at Plumb Lake, Wisconsin, will be the referee and starter. Next week his stall of 60 men, who will serve as officials and oh tendants, will be chosen. Echoohl Classified The events are divided into three sections. The first two of these consist of seven events divided into University and Col,- lege entries. These seven events one mile relay, two mile relay, Sprint medley, 70 yard low hur~ dies, '70 yard high hurdles, and 440 yard run. The third section is the open section. The events in this are the one mile run, 880 yard run, high jump, pole vault, and shot put. The preliminary events will start at 3 o'clock in the afternoon and the finals will start at seven in the evening, This year some of the seats will be set aside as reserved seats. The price will he announced later. All Illinois Institute passes will be honored with a slight extra charge for the reserved seats. Special Events Besides the events announced above there probably will be sev— eral special events to be an- nounced later. Elaine of the schools tentatively expected to enter are Chicago, Northwestern, North Central, Marquette, Michigan, . Iowa State Teachers, and Kansas Besides these tentative entries there are hoped to be several en~ tries from the west and the east coasts. This meet marked the reappear- ance of Karl Koos, ace of the Tee. hawk breaststroke staff who had been confined to a hospital bed since the early part of the season. Though badly out of condition, Karl has regained enough of his old form to bolster the medley re- lay team in addition to evening things up in the breaststroke event.
