Under the guidance of first- year Head Coach Usha Gilmore, the Hawks have resurrected the program in an admirable fashion. Currently the team sits at a record of 1-16, but not for a lack of effort. With a schedule Premier League: dominated by road games, and competition against teams that are nationally ranked or receiving votes, the Hawks have performed valiantly. Also injury-riddled, several players have averaged minutes just shy of 40 to make up for the losses. This includes sophomore guard Adrianna Maron, and senior Lauren Capuano, who have given some standout performances for the Hawks. On the season, Capuano leads the team in points and rebounds thus far, averaging 14.3 and 12.4 respectively. Meanwhile, Maron averages 11.1 points per game and leads the team in 3-point field goals made. In early January, despite a loss to the Bethany Lutheran Vikings, Maron led all scorers with 30 points drilling a couple 3-point shots, and shooting 70% from the free throw line. Capuano also added a stellar performance with a game-high 16 rebounds. On another night, Capuano had a well-rounded game, racking up 24 points on 56% shooting, as well as nine rebounds and seven steals. A team highlight transpired at home where the Hawks hosted Northeastern Illinois University and grabbed their first victory.
