Chicago winter sports retUrn with Bulls, Hawks, Bears Gus Alvarez TECHNEWS WRITER The Bears are thus far undefeated, the Bulls are legit title contenders, the Blackhawks are defending their title, and the Fire are consistently in the playoff picture. It’s a good time to be a Chicago sports fan, unless, of course, we’re talking-about our beloved baseball teams. With the baseball regular season nearing its‘end, it is advised to move on and hope for next year, like all Cubs fans are accustomed to doing (Go Cubbies!) Let’s focus on the exciting seasons coming up for the Bulls and Blackhawks, and the currently promising, undefeated Bears. The Blackhawks are off to a decent preseason with a record of 3- 0- 2 (3 wins, 2 overtime losses.) They began last season by making history and breaking records with the best start to agseason in NHL history. They begin their journey to win back-to-back Stanley Cups on Tuesday, October 1, the season opener. It is rumored that Hossa, who suffered an injury during training camp, will be ready to go for the opener; it is well known that Twitches love Hossa, and the fans will be delighted. A different comeback for a Chicago sports superstar is creating a lot more buzz as the, Bulls prepare to begin their preseason on October 5 in Indiana against the oh so not loved Pacers. This will also’be the first competitive game that Derrick Rose will play, and start in, since his knee surgery last May. deI say that again, #TheReturn is upon us. With a core of Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer, Ioakim Noah, Iimmy Butler, and D-Rose; the Bulls are ready tobegin their stampede. H V When the Bulls are coached by Thibodeau and have Rose on the floor, their record is 94-26. This should strike fear into the hearts of Heat fans around the globe because the Bulls are better. Noah is better offensively, - Lieutenant Deng is consistently consistent, Boozer slimmed down, and Iimmy Buckets is here to play. Oh and did I mention Rose is coming back? The only player not named Lebron James to have won the MVP in the last five years? According to league sources and Kevin Durant, he’s better. Go Bulls See Red Beat the Heat. If that doesn’t have your heart beating faster because you love Chicago sports, don’t forget the Bears are 3-0. There’s a new coach, new system, new jay Cutler, and the same stingy Bears defense. The offensive line looks better, thanks to coach Trestman, which gives Cutler more time in the pocket to bombard the opposing secondary with his cannon—arm. They face the Detroit Lions on Sunday and look to continue their winning streak. ' Da Bears still have kinks to work out in the defense and on offense but they are playing more exciting football than they have in the past few years. Look for them in the playoffs. They should be there as long as they stay healthy. Go Bears. Go Chicago.
