It’s the beginning of a new semester, and as such, it’s almost time for another SGA Week Student Government Ase sociation (SGA) hosts one week full of events every semester The purpose of the week is to raise awareness of what your student government can do for you and how you can get involved SGA serves as your representative voice to the administration, and we want to hear your views! This semester SGA Week runs from Monday, January 30th, to Thursday, February 2nd! Events will include a Public Safety Forum, Lunch With Your Representatives, classroom visits by senators, and a Student Discount Fair On Monday at lunch, Public Safety will be hosting an open forum! You will have a chance to meet oflicers, express concerns, and become more familiar with the people who keep you safe! Lunch With Your Representatives, on Tuesday at lunch in the Perlstein lobby, will be a great opportunity to meet your elected representatives from Senate, Finance Board, and Judicial Board! Talk to them about what you’d like to see on campus and learn how you can get involved with changing the campus for the better! On Wednesday, take the opportu7 nity to talk to your senators on the bridge at the weekly Thoughts Tablet Every Wednesday this semester, senators will be out to talk to you and gather your thoughts on how campus can be improved Cast your vote on our Votebox forum at sgatuservoicetcom! Back by popular demand, the stu7 dent Discount Fair will be held on Thursday on the Bridge from 12:3071:30t The Fair will feature businesses that participate in the Stu, dent Discount Program, and offer free samples to students who stop by Pick up your Student Discount card if you don’t already have one! Throughout the week, senators will be visiting certain classes with high enrollment to talk to students about the role of student government on campus and raise awareness of what SGA has achieved already on campus SGA Week is all about you! Led by Director Ryan Miller, Campus Life has been working over the past month to better meet the needs of student organizations as well as expanding its focus to students who may not be as involved in student organizations! Coordinators Tricia Berryhill and Alex Garrett will continue to advocate for students, but in new capacities! Tricia Ber, ryhill will advise organizations with names starting with “#" through “G," as well as lead the following programs: Orientation, Parent Programs, the New Student Organization Process, Student Organization Recognition, and general programming for the Oflice of Campus Life! Meanwhile, Alex Garrett will ad, vise Union Board (UB), as well as student organizations with names starting with “N" through “Zf' Alex will also lead the following programs: First Year Experience, Leadership Development, Outreach, and Women’s Prof gramming! Ryan Miller will primarily advise the Student Government Association (SGA), as well as student organizations with names starting with “H" through “M!" Finally, in response to Student Speak Survey feedback, Campus Life has dedicated a fulletime staff member, Cathy Fuller, to student organiza7 tion finance! Student organizations that take advantage of all of these new resources will be recognized in increasing degrees of “Level III," “Level II," and “Level I" accordingly In order to access all of the resources offered by Campus Life, student organizations must reach the “Level 1" tier, which allows them to apply for oflice space in the Campus Life suite, priority space at the Student Involve, ment Fair, utilize the ticket sales system, ape ply for annual funding via a main account from Student Affairs, and many other ben7 efits! In the spring 2012 semester, Came pus Life is looking forward to working more effectively with student organizations and increasing the vibrancy of the IIT campus! The Student Leader Summit is a great opportunity to learn about services offered on campus, as well as a chance to con, nect with and learn from other student lead, ers on campus!
