The Hawks lost their first game in the four—game stretch on Wednesday September 21 at Taylor University 2—1. The home team took the lead in the 18th minute when Taylor Hale opened the scoring. The Hawks bounced back immediately, however, when Lauren Capuano scored her 6th goal of the season just a minute later. Unfortunately, with just minutes left in the first half, the home team grabbed what turned out to be the eventual game winner, with the second half ending scoreless. For the next game in the stretch, the Hawks returned to Stuart Field on Saturday, September 24, to face Benedictine University. The game turned out to be a stroll in the park for the Women’s team with the Ladies recording a commanding 8—1 victory. Goals on the day were scored by: Emily Tilton (2), Diana Otero (2), Noel Deis, Kay Durbin, Marit Tundal, and Heather Bickerton. Saturdav’s impressive performance Photos by Sebastian Morales Prado was followed by a disappointing 2—1 opening day conference loss on Tuesday, September 27, at Cardinal Stritch University. The Hawks ended the game in a 1—1 tie, with Marit Tundal grabbing the teams goal, but the home team claimed the points in the first minute of overtime, when Rachelle Broome converted. After the disappointing midweek loss, the Women’s team bounced back in impressive style on Saturday afternoon as they turned in arguably their best performance of the season in a 2—1 loss against the #9 team in the nation, Olivet Nazarene University. The Hawks got off to the worst possible start when the visitors took the lead in the first minute of the game from a set piece, following an unfortunate go alkeeping error.
