That was sick so we have to try that layerrng thrng So okay okay,lgot rt The mental asylum rs one layer, but there’s another layer, full of fetrsh apparel, and guns, and hell, we need zombies and robots and samurar gre ants while we’re at rt But you know, we also need to be serious So let’s also make it about prostrtutron and make some kind of message at the end that one ofthe hottles will read out loud Sound good? No thanks One day, rt wrll become common knowledge that grrls plus guns plus brg budget does not equal good move re Today rs not that day Zack Synders heavrly publicized, tryingr desperatelyetoebee stylrsh new film falls rnto that alletooecommon trap, and wrll lrkelystruggle to garner the fanboy populatron rt would need to maintain any sort ofrepute Emrly Erownrng, mostly commonly known for her role as Violet Baudelaire rn A Series of Unfortunate Events, plays Baby Doll, a zoeyeare old grrl who accrdentallyshoots her srster rn an attempt to krll her stepfather after the death of her mother The evrl stepfather commrts her to a mental asylum where rt rs made clear that, rn five days, she wrll be subrected to a lobotomy There she meets Rocket (lena Malone), Sweet Pea (Abble Cornish), Blondie (Vanessa Hude gens), and Amber (lamle chung) The grrls are requrred by the establrshment to dance and prostrtute themselves for clrents rncludrng the Mayor and the ‘ngh Roller’ Baby Doll rs apparently a naturally talented dancer, throwrng her male audrences rnto a nearrhypnotlc trance wrthrn a few bored sways of her hrps She uses thrs skrll to drstract the men ofthe soecalledeasylum whrle her cohorts steal rtems essentral for therr planned escape As she dances she regresses rnto her own fane tasy world, where the grrls are gurded by The Wrseman’ rn wrlous weaponrladen mrssrons to retrreve thrngs that could lead to therr esr cape Unfortunately nothrng wrll allow them to escape from the hernous soundtrack that provrdes the cheesy backdrop for therr campy buttrklcklng sequences Prepare for your ears to bleed afier subrectrng yourselfto graturtous, lm age courtesy ofcrushublecom awkward, and drsgraceful covers of songs by the Eurythmrcs, Led zeppelrn, and even Sllr versun l>rckups It has some cool specral effects But rfthat’s all anyone wanted, the trarler would have sufr ficed The nauseatrng and accrdentally campy dralogue, horrendous soundtrack mrserable attempt at upholdrng a plot, and cheap attempt at a ‘deep’ endrng rendered thrs entrre experre ence little more than an assault to the senses Unless you want to offend your ears and rnsult your rntellrgence, youd be better ofrstayrng at home watchrng reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond Dld l mentron 1 hate Everybody Loves Raymond?
