BRONZEVILLE HERITAGE HUNT Games have always been an important part of our social lives, but now with the advent of social media and mobile devices, they are more useful as a social tool than ever. Our IPRO recognizes this, and believes that traditional games like the ones we grew up with have the potential to not only engage a community, but advance it in ways we had never before thought possible. Our team has thus taken two games that a lot of people have tried, crossword puzzles and scavenger hunts, and put them together in order to help .. mm people better understand the Bronzeville area, helping llT students better understand 'r'filllgfifa'ir’ the community we should be closer to, and help promote the area’s major cultural and historical heritage as the Black Metropolis. While we began the semester knowing little about the area, research, interviews, and the help ofour instructors, Jim McKay and Jodi Houlihan, we learned so much more about the character and background of Bronzeville than any of us were aware of, and the sur- veys we conducted showed even many fourth—year students, who had been here a while, were unaware ofthe rich background of the neighborhood that’s right in our campus’ backyard. We thus developed our game, the’BronzeviIle Heritage Hunt; as a means of getting people to not only explore Bronzeville, but learn about its history, and exactly what the neighborhood has to offer, in a curated fashion so it doesn’t just feel like you’re wandering around. Each month, there will be a new puzzle right here in Tech News, with new locales to check out, and new experiences for you to have. Give it a shot, and remember: the first team (or person!) to make it through and turn it into a Tech News representative will get their picture displayed with the next puzzle! Take note that the image will have a blackened out word. 3.) Once you find what the image is displaying at the site, you look for that blackened out word. That's the answer for the puzzle! 4.)
