It was a poor clearance by the Aston Villa keeper which was intercepted by Sergio Aguero, who opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the match. Then it was the powerful left footed free kick by Kolarov which doubled City’s lead, but it was soon equalized as Aston Villa scored two in succession. Cleverly shot home after a ball from a set piece was not properly cleared out, and then it was Carlos Sanchez who scored his first ever goal in premier league as he equalized the lead set by Manchester City. But the valiant comeback was defied by Fernandinho who scored a winning goal in the penultimate minute of the match. Manchester City ended the match with a win and now sit at second place with 67 points. Manchester City 3 Aston Villa 2. It was a fantastic game between EPL Nathan McMahon SPORTS EDITOR The 20142015 Barclay’s Premier League season is now within shouting distance of being over, with Chelsea looking more and more as the likely champions. Their match up this weekend against Arsenal looked to be a decisive fixture in the race for the title. In the end, it left both sides feeling moderately pleased Southampton and Tottenham which started the Premier League this week. With both teams just one point apart, it was an important one for both of them. Southampton opened the scoring as the defensive slip by Spurs gave them a clear chance and it was beautifully finished by Pelle. Just as the first half was coming to an end, Tottenham levelled with a strong header by Lamela, scoring his second goal of the league. Pelle scored again in the second half, which was cancelled out by the spurs within five minutes after a brilliant run by Chadli. The match ended in a draw with both teams settling for a point. Southampton 2 Tottenham Hotspurs 2. Sunderland went into the match with their feet in the relegation zone, so they needed all three points to survive. They took charge early on as the Stoke keeper fumbled the ball and Wickham took the opportunity to put one past the keeper from a very close range. Stoke came responding soon afterwards as the in-form Charlie Adams struck once again which making his third goal in last three matches. The match ended in a draw with Sunderland still in the relegation zone. Stoke City 1 Sunderland 1. It was the 100th meet between op4 as it ended in a 0-0 draw. This put Chelsea 10 points clear of both Manchester City and Arsenal at with the former at 77 points and the latter with 67 points. Withjust 5 matches left in the season, it is looking more and more like Jose Mourinho’s men will claim the title for Chelsea. Possibly an even more exciting race than the title, is the race for a top four spot and a spot in next season’s Champion’s League tournament. Leicester and Burnley, and it was crucial for Leicester as a win would have meant coming out of the relegation zone. Although Burnley dictated most of the first half, it was a whole other story in the second half. Burnley missed a penalty kick as Taylor hit the wrong side of - the post, and Leicester was quick to respond as they hurried up the field a defensive error which could have very easily been an own goal, saved by the Burnley keeper, but Vardy took the ball off him and scored the only goal of the match. Leicester now stand one point above the relegation zone, and the fate of Burnley lie in their own hands as they now lie at the bottom of the table. Burnley FC 0 Leicester City 1. Hull City travelled to Crystal Palace who looked to end their win draught since the last six matches. The first half went goalless, but the visitors tooklead in the second half. N’Doye tapped in a cross by Brady from a very close range and took the team goal up in the Slst minute. Then it was the same man just before the whistle sounded who scored the second goal of the night, and the second goal for Hull City. Hull City now stand just a point above relegation zone. Crystal Palace 0 Hull City 1. Wra appear to be Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Southampton. United sits in 4th at 65 points, which is 7 points of clear of 5th place Liverpool. However, after losing 3-0 to Everton this weekend, they lost out on a chance to distance themselves from the pack. Luckily for United, Liverpool also failed to capitalize as they were abysmal in a 0-0 draw against West Bromwich which seriously injures their Champion’s League dreams. Southampton and Saturday, May 2 Baseball @ Chicago 11 a.m. Baseball @ Chicago 1:30 pm. Newcastle were looking for avoiding their seventh straight defeat, and Swansea were looking for their highest ever points total in the premier league. Even though Newcastle opened the night with a goal, it was cancelled out just before the half ended as poor defending at a set piece gave a clear chance for an "equalizer. Swansea struck twice in the second half, both of which could be attributed to poor defending, and they confirmed their win with those. Although Newcastle was able to get one late in the match, it was nothing more than a consolation goal. Newcastle 2 Swansea 3. QPR took on West Ham with a must- win match for the hosts, starting the match with two points from safety. They came out flying and almost took the lead when they were awarded a penalty for a handball, but a poorly struck shot was well held by the keeper denying them the winner. QPR controlled the whole match and came close to scoring once again in the final minutes of match, where a powerfully struck shot was tipped right over the bar by West Ham goal keeper. The match ended with both teams earning a point and QPR going four points away from safety. QPR 0 West Ham 0. Tottenham squared off against each other, but following the trend of this weekend were both left disappointed after a dramatic 2-2 draw.
