The team howed a lot of fight and spirit. This is the first errorless game for i the Tech players. "‘ Although faced by a team of good batsmen, Simpson shut them out in every inning but the first. His strike out ball was in good working order, for fourteen men went down before it. After the first inning he seldom was in dan— ger. King granted only five hits, only two of which came in one inning. These, combined with a pass to the first batter, scored Luther’s only run. Armour batters could gather only six hits off Aase. Three of these were bunched in the first inning to score three runs. Simpson’s single drove in two of these runs, Our next score came in the second as a result of Taylor’s walk, Hau- ser’s second double, and Steneh- gem’s error. . The first two innings ended the scoring for both teams, the two hundred spectators were rewarded by a pitching duel between Aase and Simpson. M. Olson was the only Lutherite to get two hits. Armour will travel to Y College to engage in the dual meet. As far as meets go, Tech track- men have been inactive since the last indoor meet early in April. However, after a month's outdoor training the men are anxious to test their ability against a team of such reputed strength. Under the direction of Coach Stagg our men have quickly round- ed into shape for outdoor events. After spending nearly five months pounding the boards, the Cinders proved a welcome sight for the runners. Though the track on 0g- den Field is in poor condition, it will withstand the onslaught of many spiked shoes. Armour can boast of a well—bal— anced track squad this year. The combination of many new men among the well—tried performers ought to produce enough ability and fight to vanquish the Y cinder pounders. in this meet Don Paul will put the lea-pound pill and might also endeavor to toss the discus. Sturm, another veteran trackster, will attempt to score points in the 100~yard dash, 220- yar‘d' dash and the quarter mile run. Harold Fox, with his ever— present smile, will attempt to Show Sturm a clean pair of heels in the quarter mile event. Captain Kara, if recovered sufficiently, will again run his specialties, the two hurdle events. Henry Fox will compete in the low hurdles with Kara. Armour is well fortified with dis- tance men this year. Timrnermans and lverson, both consistent win- ners, with Podlipec will show '1" men how the half mile is run. James, Smith and Richter will be depended upon to outstep any am— bitinus milers. In the field events, Armour is expecting the best eflorts from Farrell in the javelin and discus, Goodhart in the discus, Cordes in the javelin, and Trognltz in the pole vault. Y. M. C. A.
