MetadataShow full item record
The capacity of the University of Prishtina to undertake research work is extremely limited due to many factors, among them the most important are: Lack of funding, lack of capacity to undertake research, and lack of motivation among the academic staff of the University of Prishtina to undertake research activities. Through the literature review, we identified that the most prevalent factor of lack of academic research at the University of Prishtina is the lack of capacity to undertake research. Therefore, the lack of capacity to undertake research impacted the quality of the Masters and Ph.D. programmes offered at the University of Prishtina, whereby Masters and Ph.D. students after graduation, lack the skills to undertake research or to pursue a career as a researcher. To overcome this problem we identified four possible alternatives: Implement the scientific research methods course as an obligatory course for all Masters and Ph.D. programs at the University of Prishtina; Develop exchange programs for students; Develop an E-library; Recruit new academic staff with international experience. Based on the assessment matrix we developed, the most reasonable alternative, which we also decided to implement, is the scientific research methods course. Through this course, students will gain the necessary skills to continue a career as a researcher. They will gain the qualitative and quantitative skills necessary to do research and thus slowly diminish the lack of research capacity in the University of Prishtina.
