IIT Racing Inc. is a potential business conceived during the EnPRO class in the Spring semester of 2001. A group of students advised by Professor Beltemacchi started investigating NASCAR racing (with an emphasis on the technical side) to see how a business might be built around it. They determined that the most potential lay in the area of data acquisition. Teams on the mid level NASCAR circuit using late model NASCAR chassis would like to have their cars analyzed but cannot afford to have their own data acquisition systems like the high level teams. They showed great interest in a company that could rent them this service for a fee.The Fall 2001 EnPRO will acquire the equipment and develop the expertise to do the data acquisition and will develop a business, marketing and financial plan for a company to perform the service. In addition they will actually go through the mechanics of starting up a business which will be staffed by students and begin operation in the spring.
